Our History

Where it all began

Our story began in 1995. Our first partners — Rob Cameron, Murdo Beattie, Ian Dickson, and Nigel Bingham — came together to form an investment bank built on the values of trusted relationships, quality independent advice, and a long-term commitment to the New Zealand market.  Our foundation values have endured and guide the way we work today.

New Zealand owned

We are wholly owned by our working partners.  Our name comes from the late Rob Cameron (1950–2018), who was a champion of New Zealand’s markets, with a strong background in both corporate finance, and public policy.  Rob had a strong altruistic streak and a commitment to making New Zealand a better place.  Each year we honour Rob’s legacy with the Victoria University of Wellington—Te Herenga Waka Rob Cameron Memorial Scholarship.

Growing our team, growing our talent

We have always been committed to nurturing the talent of our team and building future leaders.  In addition to our scholarship support, we frequently employ interns from local universities throughout the academic year.  Our reputation and credentials attract leading corporate finance professionals to come and work with us.

A history of landmark deals

We take pride in our involvement with some of New Zealand’s most complex and challenging transactions.  We’ve provided advice on many of New Zealand’s landmark deals since the 1990s.
