Contact Energy's
acquisition
of
Manawa Energy
- Cameron Partners, together with our alliance partner Rothschild & Co, acted as joint financial advisors to Contact Energy Limited (“Contact”), one of New Zealand’s largest gentailers, in relation to the proposed acquisition of 100% of Manawa Energy Limited, one of New Zealand’s largest renewable energy producers, via a mixture of Contact shares and cash.
- Major Manawa shareholders, Infratil and TECT Holdings (who between them hold or control approximately 77.9% of Manawa shares), committed to vote in favour of the scheme of arrangement subject to certain conditions.
- Contact Energy generates, distributes, wholesale and retails electricity throughout New Zealand, with a c.20% market share. The company operates five geothermal, two hydroelectric and three cogeneration power stations, servicing over 600k customers.
